I watched the video presentation of the Palm Pre today. This thing destroys the Storm by a mile. Granted, who knows what the outcome will be once Apple sues them. If they survive the legal battles ahead, Research in Motion should worry. There are some nice features on the phone that I would love to see in the next iPhone, such as a desktop like interface, I hate scrolling over to so many application pages. Organizing Apps on the iPhone is a pain as well. The Keyboard seems like it could be nice but they don’t allow typing in landscape mode. The interface looks much smoother and user friendly than the Blackberry as well. In the end, I don’t think Apple needs to worry because the Pre is positioned as a business device which is where the Blackberry rules.
Furthermore, Apple may be making money every time this device is sold because of their patents, there is so much in the interface that is a blatant iPhone rip off. Research in Motion may not have to worry too much because it will only be on Sprint at launch, they are horrible in my area, worse than AT&T. In a major city, the service of the big 3 probably doesn’t make much of a difference though.
